DEAL OR NO DEAL?

I feel kind of embarrassed posting about my outfit, especially since I know nothing about fashion blogging, but when you find good deals you have to share!

Why pay full price when you can get a sweeeeet discount?! I recently got this blazer and blouse from J.Crew 50% off sale with the  ADDITIONAL 15% COLLEGE DISCOUNT. That's right, 65% off.

I've always wanted a schoolboy blazer but never wanted to pay full price for one, so when I found this one on the sale rack, I snagged it right up.

THE HEALER'S ART

I am feeling especially thankful. On Halloween I found out I got accepted into BYU's Nursing Program. My mom and I were shopping (shopping is a good stress reliever, which could be a problem because I'm always stressed out ha), and while shopping I received the acceptance email. Everyone in the store was wondering why we were celebrating haha.

I cannot wait to start this new journey in my life! I feel extremely humbled and grateful for this opportunity. Ever since I was a little girl I always wanted to be a nurse. Looking back, I'm glad I didn't get accepted the first time I applied for the Fall semester. From that experience I learned how to work harder, rely more fully on my Savior, and accept more fully Heavenly Father's plan for me. Isn't it amazing how everything always work out the way it's supposed to?!

My angel mom got this cake. I think my parents are excited for me to become a nurse so that when they are old I can take care of them! :)

This is the best email I have ever received! Definitely not "Junk" mail :)

I helped this sweet woman this summer as a CNA, along with many other residents. They hold a special place in my heart. xo

Oh and side note: Me and Taylor are STILL dorks.

ROUND 2

HEY THERE!
Here's some snippets of BYU, round dos! I love it here. The people. The location. The school. The sports (although I still cheer for the Utes... whoops!). And of course my roomies. Oh and the boys aren't too bad either :)
         --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right now I'm waiting to find out if I made it into BYU's  Nursing Program! This is my second time applying, but whatever happens is meant to be. I've learned that you have to plan, but be willing to accept what happens! Crossing my fingers!! I LOVE NURSING. I worked as a CNA and Shower Aid this summer at a facility and loved it. It doesn't sound like the most appealing job, but I loved the people! We will see what happens with Nursing :)
          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My roommate Tay is hands down one of the most incredible people I know.
One morning I had to get up early and study, and I came back to my room and
my bed was made. She is always going out of her way to make a stressful day
better. Plus she is the only one who gets my jokes and actually laughs at them.
Definitely lucky!

TAKE ME TO ZION

(don't be deceived: this photo may look cool but it took us multiple attempts)

^^Hidden Canyon Hike ^^
(Got to the mouth of the canyon and got my 5th bloody nose that day. Darn bloody noses!)

The Riverside Walk (a.k.a. "The Narrows")

Hiking the Narrows was one of the highlights of the trip. We started at the bottom and went as far up as we could. When we made it about 3 1/2 hours into the hike, we found a nice area to swim and jump off the rocks into the water.

THIS HIKE IS BEAUTIFUL.
(Next time I'm wearing water shoes… I was slippin' and slidin' all over the place! Literally though, I'm a  klutz. )

This hike especially brings back good memories because of the opportunity my friends & I had to help an older lady named Jiffie who slipped and broke her wrist while on this hike. We found her and her husband on our way back, and my friend Rachel who is also a CNA, was a life-saver and came prepared with first-aid supplies. We were able to help her get her wrist stabilized. Levi and Addison, the 2 boys, held on to her the whole way back.
--------------------------
The neatest part about helping Jiffie was the opportunity to utilize the Priesthood power. My two guy friends were worthy and prepared to give her a Priesthood blessing in the middle of the canyon. Jiffie and Steve aren't members of the LDS church, but they told us they were open to new spiritual experiences. We stepped off the river and folded our arms while they laid their hands on her head. They blessed her with comfort, relief from pain, and a quick recovery. After the blessing the boys immediately sensed a difference in Jiffie and noticed that she was much more calm and relaxed. The power of the Priesthood is real! God's power is available to all his children. I'm grateful for the opportunity I had to walk and talk with Jiffie and Steve and serve them alongside my faithful friends.

Toquerville Falls
(Toquerville UT has the coolest falls! You would never assume that if you saw the desolate Toquerville town haha, but sure enough in the middle of nowhere there are these cool falls you can cliff jump into)

^^THE WHOLE GANG^^

Zion's National Park is officially crossed off my Summer Bucket List!

DAD

Today my dad turned 58 years old! I asked him about the most important things/advice/wisdom he has learned in the past 58 years and he told me:

-You have to roll with the punches
-Enjoy the simple things in life
-Don't expect "things/items" to make you happy. Trying to impress other people with what you have and trying to get attention from the world will never make you truly happy.

I love my dad. He has taught me more than I can write down. I go to him for everything. My love for the outdoors, walks around the neighborhood with our dog Duke, and the gospel have been heavily influenced by him and his example.

His unconditional love for his family and the Savior Jesus Christ strengthen my testimony of my own Father in Heaven.

58 years young!

<<---ON REPEAT ---->>

The albums & songs I listen to OVER and OVER again are:
  • Colbie Caillat's "Gypsy Heart" (especially the single "Try")
  • The Fault in Our Stars soundtrack
  • Ingrid Michaelson's "Lights Out"
  • Phillip Phillip's "Raging Fire"
  • Meghan Trainor's song "All About That Bass"
  • Lennon and Maisy's hit singles
Don't you just love that feeling of finding a song you could listen to over and over again? Ah I just love that feeling! These songs/albums are some of those songs I have on repeat. Nothing better than having your car windows down with the music blazing or dancing around the kitchen to upbeat, wholesome songs!

Cherry Chocolate Nut Bars

RECIPE:
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup crunchy peanut butter
  • 1 1/2 cups salted peanuts, chopped
  • 1 (10.5-ounce) package miniature marshmallows
  • 1 (16-ounce) container cherry frosting
Melt chocolate chips and peanut butter on low power in the microwave. Stir well and add chopped peanuts. Spread half of the chocolate mixture in a 9 by 13-inch glass pan sprayed very lightly with cooking spray. Refrigerate 20 minutes.

Melt Marshmallows in the microwave on low power; stirring every 20 seconds. When melted and smooth, stir in the frosting. Spread this mixture carefully on top of the chocolate layer. Let cool in the fridge for 30 minutes. Top with remaining chocolate. If chocolate has set up a little, microwave it for about 30 seconds on low power and stir well. Be sure to spread each layer to the edges of the pan.

Refrigerate until firm. Cut into pieces. Makes about 48 pieces.

This recipe was snagged from the "A Year With Six Sisters' Stuff" cookbook and boy is it yummy. I have a sweet tooth like many of you, so this yummy treat hits the spot. Perfect for summer! And if you haven't noticed, I haven't posted in FOREVER, so here's to a fresh start at blogging :)
